salt, pepper, and light

Jesus came into this world to shine light into the darkness (John 8:12), fulfilling old testament prophecies, such as Isaiah 9:1-7. And He called us (believers) to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. -Matthew 5:13-16

We seek to be this salt and light, in part, by sharing God's love through food. Food tends to open hearts in a special way, especially homemade food prepared with love. We currently serve at a youth homeless shelter where we share a meal with the youth along with games and conversation, looking for opportunities to share the Gospel. We also share food with others experiencing hardship or need, as we are able. Our goal is to fund our food ministry so we can continue sharing food for free and shining Jesus' light into the darkness!
